Yesterday, oral argument went well at the Court of Appeal in a TPR appeal filed by Christopher J. Cadem. In a decade of arguing at the Court of Appeals, there has never been more than a few casual observers at a CLG appeal. This time the courtroom was nearly filled to capacity with people interested in the outcome of the case. The court seemed particularly cued in to the issue presented. We are hopeful that we will prevail or at least get clear direction from the appellate courts that a petitioner must show a direct and immediate connection between drug use/abuse and child endangerment before terminating parental rights.
