Cadem Law Group Welcomes New Attorney Jacob Thomason

Cadem Law Group is pleased to announce that it has welcomed Attorney Jacob Thomason to its growing team of exceptional attorneys. Jake truly embodies the “Aggressive, Compassionate and Strategic” mindset of his colleagues at Cadem Law Group and he will make a great addition to the team.

Prior to joining CLG, Jake spent seven years as an Assistant Otter Tail County Attorney where he prosecuted more than 1000 criminal matters and successfully litigated more than 25 jury trials to verdicts. His docket ranged from simple traffic matters to DWIs, drug possession, domestic assault, financial crimes, serious assaults, and drug trafficking. He was also a board member of the Otter Tail County Drug and DWI Courts where he contributed in meaningful ways to the courts, the participants, and to positive outcomes for those with chemical addiction issues.

Jake received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota – Duluth with a double major in Political Science and Criminology. While a student there, Jake was president of the local chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi national fraternity. During his time with Phi Psi, Jake led, organized, and participated in numerous charitable projects within the city of Duluth. He was additionally recruited by the fraternity to attend congressional lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C., related to student housing matters.

Jake received his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. While in law school, Jake was an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. Always seeking to be a trial attorney, Jake honed his trial skills early on by both participating in and coaching mock trial teams that competed in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. Jake also gathered real courtroom experience prosecuting for two and a half years, under student practice rules, as a felony Sentencing Law Clerk with the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office. Following law school, Jake worked at the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office as a contract attorney in the Juvenile Division as well as the Child Protection Division.

Jake’s unique experience as an “insider” provides him with a powerful war chest of tools and strategies that will greatly assist his clients who have been charged with crimes and those facing difficult legal matters of all types. Jake will focus his practice on criminal defense, orders for protection, harassment restraining orders, juvenile offenses, and family law.
