After a week-long jury trial, but only three hours of deliberation, an Otter Tail County jury acquitted T.S. of all six counts (involving two girls) of criminal sexual conduct. He was facing a presumptive sentence of 180 months in prison if convicted.

“This was a very difficult and emotional trial because it was a he said she said (times 2) case. I had complete confidence in my client and our defense, but you never know what a jury will do. I give a lot of credit to my client for going forward with trial. The State had offered a deal that would have required less than a year in jail, as opposed to 180 months in prison if convicted at trial. To take the risk, even when innocent, takes a lot of courage and more importantly, trust in the justice system and my ability. The unfortunate reality is that many innocent people plead guilty in these circumstances because they simply do not have a qualified attorney or one that they can trust. I am honored to have helped justice prevail and to give my client his life back.”
